Favorite Galaxy class mods
« on: July 07, 2010, 05:11:46 PM »
Most of us here grew up watching TNG, so the good ol' Galaxy has had a special place in our hearts (well in mine at least...), even if it is badly proportioned and somewhat ungainly 8)

There are a large number of high-quality Galaxy packs, virtually dead-even in quality. El's GCMP, SNS Galaxy with Psycho's retexture, DJ's pack, even oldies like the C2 & P81 Galaxies from years gone by.

So, masters of the modding community, when you just wanna sit back and a rainy day and blast some stupid Cardies or show a smug Romulan Commander what the best battleship in the Alpha Quadrant truly is, what do you use and why?

Its like wanting to go into a fight like James Bond, in a expensive nice suit, sometimes you want kill some baddies in style. No one can disagree when you look at the ship and you think its a futuristic beautiful ship that has graceful and mordern lines

DJ's Galaxy Pack is my favorite. Especially the Pegasus. The Galaxy Class from DS9FX Xtended is also pretty good.

Xtended uses SNS Galaxy but the textures are done by psycho IIRC these are the ones: http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/PYCHO_SNS_Galaxy_Retext;70907

Gotta be the SNS for me, with or without Psycho's excellent textures.

It's modelled on the six foot model, DJ's is the 4 foot. Actually, DJ's is the four foot with a lot of corrections and an overall sharpness-of-detail hike. I've always loved the more graceful and sleek lines of the six-footer. She looks absolutely stellar in Generations.

Klingon Academy now works on XP/Vista/Win 7 thanks to one dude's patches, click here for details. I highly recommend it!

Yeah, I still use the SNS, too. Gorgeous without being too much of a hassle for my pc, plus I'm so used to it by now after so long...

I use SNS when I can...but mostly DJ's because of the MVAM option...which Scotchy's never had, or was never finished.  (I really wouldn't mind taking a crack at modeling the cobrahead on the SNS though)

I guess I like DJ's, CE's and SNS' Galaxys equally... as a fan of the design I have about every major Galaxy class mod installed, the three alrady mentioned + KM version and BlackRook's Galaxy pack which btw. has a kick butt HP :P

I find Captain Elgy's Galaxy one of the best out there yet no one mentioned it... I wonder why ;)

I like DJ's the most with the SNS a close second, then CE's.
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

I like DJ's the most, mainly cause the detailed look of it and the choice of ships you get. Plus the 1st season Enterprise and Generations Enterprise look spot on in my opinion

SNS all the way cause it uses the smooth 6 footer as a example!

SNS, all the way, with DJ trailing; there was something off with the CE Galaxy I could never pin. The P81 and C2 Galaxy's are now old and show their age...

Worthy of a another thread but.....

I've never noticed the difference between 4ft & 6ft models. They look the same to me.
