I'm not at home right now, and I won't be until Saturday, and I still haven't figured out how to convert from MAX to NIF.  I can send you the raw MAX file and textures, if you know how to do that.  I'm using MAX 2010.  Is that a problem?

to convert from late(r) Max to NIF, ideally need Max 3 and BFF.

Hey, are you also aware that Atolm over at SFC forums has drawn up a class of ship similar to yours, except, obviously much later era?

No, could you point me to it?  I'm highly interested. :D

Oh, and Starforce, if I send you a 3ds file of the model and the textures, could you convert it to a NIF and hardpoint it?

That's the specific post, and I was wrong it's something between Excelcior era and the Early tng ships, rather than an advanced era vessel but none the elss good looking.

While I wait on Starforce to answer this (:P):

...I will show you a little project, something I've always wanted to see done...

Pretty sure there are a few mods in BCfiles that give the Sov MVAM.

http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Sovereign_MVAM;32316 for one. :)

Yeah, but not the CG Sov, and not with good impulse engines for the stardrive.

as for converting 3ds's..it's always a crapshoot, they're a pain to deal with, but send it over. I might do a bunch of conversions tonight, go throughall my ship folders so I can take this old computer down, it's in my way.

Exists a plugin (free) which can import/export ".nif" and ".mod" files in 3ds max, and later you can work in Milkshape, Gmax and Blender I believe: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/NIF_Importers_and_Exporters ;)
Anyway, don?t know nothing similar for Lightwave.

I have a mod importer and a nif exporter for 3.1 max. It's just that some 3ds files are in multiple peices. Some peices are small and hard to see, andf you need to click eahc one to change the texture name (unline mod, where you click the model once with the material editor and get all textures listed) and in the process of rotating the model around to find all the parts you either have some you can never find or the model comes apart and you then need to start over. I'll sometimes export to mod first then to nif to solve this issue.

I dunno..Maybe...it's not far off from the Senator class just made from a D7 cruser instead of a pure romulan design. You could use nacelles that are more like wz's senator instead.

Go ahead and release her, put together a standard readme saying she's a little sister to the Excelsior, balanced to X-Era (Ambassador class, Excelsior refit, etc.)  I won't be able to play with her until at the soonest this weekend.  Concept, model, and textures by me, while conversion and hardpointing is you.

By the way, she's beautiful in game.  Thanks, and hopefully this partnership will be as productive in the future.
