Just suggesting that it doesn't mean you have to make it bigger. Kind of limits options for you IMO, but still, it's an interesting design

To be honest I see nothing wrong with the JJ-verse scaling.  *Defends self from massive barrage of heavy rocks*  It's HIS take on the Star Trek universe, and if he wants larger ships, then so be it.  From the standpoint of shuttlecraft, I'm glad they made the ship larger.  I was getting tired of all the shuttles Voyager was able to hold somehow despite it's small size.  They lost, what, 17 shuttles throughout the show?  And somehow managed to fit the Delta Flyer in there?  The simple solution is to make the ship much larger.  And it looks as if the secondary hall is almost entirely a huge shuttle bay.

I'm loving that JJExcelsior... but I think she would have a more refit-like secondary hull.
Since the Enterprise took cues from both the original and the refit, I'm going to venture a guess and say any future JJ ship would be a blend of all of it's various refits.

Oh, and about the size discussion, I prefer it being around the size of the real Connie's, but maybe a second version that's the official size would be nice too, just to give some variety.

Seems like everyone forgets about the '800' or so lives that Kirks father saves in the begining of the movie. Captain Pike says "..you father was captain of a starship for 12 min...he saved 800 lives including your mothers....and yours.." So assuming that the crew compliment of the Kelvin was 800.....for a ship that size a crew compliment of 1000 or so and a size of 725 meters for the Enterprise is not unreasonable...but enough of that I wanna see more Excelsior!!!!!!

but somehow the nacelle should be... well... "smoother"... dunno how to put it xD

Edit: Same goes for the pylons imho. ^^

Seems like everyone forgets about the '800' or so lives that Kirks father saves

Seems like everyone forgets about the '3.000' or so lives that are working on curent 342m aircraft-carriers....

^^Good point, but a starship would be different for many reasons.

And besides, the number of people carried aboard ships in all the other Trek shows has only been the necessary number.  The Enterprise-D held 1000 +/-, but it was never fully laden.  I'm sure it could carry thousands.

we don't even know if all 800 lives were part of the crew... but shouldn't this be brought up else where....

great models anyway WileyCoyote
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

nothing personal, but if you make them THAT big in comparison to a galaxy class, i wont be Downloading it

i sudgest that you make it the regular size of an excelsior or maybe release two versions, small and big.

thats just my opinion.... the model work still looks amazing

Now this I have to agree with. The JJVerse ships may have been designed as 'eye-candy (even that is at a stretch)' but to make them nearly as big as the prime universe Galaxy class and twice as long with your interpritation of a JJCelsior just looks ridiculous.

Advice:
Keep the JJPrise about as big as the refit Ent (300 or so metres)
Make the JJCelsior the same size the prime universe Excelsior
Keep the Kelvin-variants as small depending on saucer scale as the Kelvin itself.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

I will keep all JJ-verse ships scaled as they are currently- normal sized, no ginormous ships. The large ship featured in the pic below is around 18k polys.

I agree that the excel shouldn't be that big, but let's leave the JJ-verse size stuff for another thread guys.

It's a fantastic model Wiley, that I will download no matter the size.

Agreed. The Narada is now ingame(look for previous post). I built this new model and I got it ingame and I could possibly add more tendrils/spikey arms. I'm so happy. :D

The big "arms" are looking a bit blocky, but that's some awesome stuff you got there! :D
