So I will soon have some time to get to doing some HPs for those ships.  I've also started a Klingon ship after having read a thread talking about there not being enough non-fed ships being made for the game.  Would you guys rather see a bunch of paneling modeled on or textured on?

Phoenix did a really good job with modeled paneling on his Vorcha.  Most of them followed the underlying hull contours so it didn't add much to the polycount.  If you could do something similar, true epicness will be achieved.

I'm thinking of going that direction as well.  It would look great in renders I think, though I'm worried about the poly count getting out of control.

As I recall Phoenix's Vorcha was around maybe 30k.  If you're under 40, or 50 for a larger ship or station, you should be fine.

Thanks Farshot.

I'm hard at work and I'll post some pictures before I put it to rest for the night, but I don't want to show it just yet.  I'm working quickly and I'm really liking how it's shaping up.  It should make for a good post-Nemesis Klingon Attack Cruiser.

*update*

Here you are folks, just a taste for the moment.  I haven't built the ship's head or nacelles, so I don't want to give away too much of the overall design.  This is the aft section of the ship that includes the shuttlebay (down below), impulse engines and other various engineering components and weapons systems.  I'm modeling the hell out of this one but I'm being very clean as I go so the poly count should still be quite reasonable.

Glad you guys are liking the ship.  I've been working on the ships forward section and I'm seriously excited about how it's shaping up.  I'll put up a picture later.  Do you guys have any suggestion for things I should have on the ship?  Perhaps details from other Klingon ships that I definitely should miss?

i'm very excited to show this thing off but I'm holding off!

Side disruptor turrets. Rotating turrets.  :idk:
Looks good so far. Can't wait to see the front hull. Wonderful job.

BC doesn't support animation, so we can't have rotating turrets.  What I would like to see thought is the use of FTECH to have weapons retracting out of pods like that on the Scimitar.  Actually, the perfect example would be Airwolf with the guns on the wings.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I have no idea how to use Ftech, I'm afraid.

Here's my day's labour, the ship's forward section.  There are disruptor cannons on the forward tips, with a torpedo launcher in the center of the inlet.  There are also disruptor beam emitters on the port and starboard side.  Those will fire along the ship's Y axis from 0 to 90 degrees.

I still have a bunch of detailing to do to the forward section, particularly to the underside, but I wanted to post some pix before bed.

Again, the shots are pretty tight so that I can keep the overall design a surprise.
