Believe me, I would love to chop off some sections, but that would screw up the model.

That's good Limey...However, if it's a Terraforming station, shouldn't the planet be barren?  Just offering my two cents :)

Having a Terra-forming station over a planet doesn't mean the planet has to be barren... it could be in any stage of the planet transition/forming process.
