Thanks for the comments and nice to hear from you DJ (beard and all :) )

The Enterprise-A conversion mostly done. The secondary hull is virtually a 90% retextured from her refit days. The aztec is completely different as are the strong backs and deflector area. The ID mapping needs tweaking as the N and A are cut in half and I forgot to dull down the additional blue flashes on the pylons. I've also dulled down all the spec maps since this ship never have the pearl finish.

the enterprise A is my favorite design... and as before you have done a masterpiece!

Totally agree with Hobbs.
That third pixture really shows how intricate the aztecing is.  Nice.

Awesome stuff, your best work I think.

Looks like you may be missing the outline on the registry, though. Also, I'm not sure about ST5, but in ST6 the impulse crystal was a white/yellow colour.

I see what you mean.

I think the electronics in this model were so shot after being handled by four different effects houses (Apogee - TMP, ILM ST2,3&4, Universal - ST ride, Ferren Assc and back to ILM for ST6) that nothing shy of a strip down and rebuld would be resurrect her. I hope Paul Olson and his band of merry men can restore her.

Can't remember who did it for ST5, but they were rubbish. I thought ILM did TMP. Honestly, I prefer the Crystal colour in TUC. I think that it was only supposed to be blue whilst the ship was at warp.

I love the TUC type battle damage as well. So they're restoring this one as well, then?

Paul Olsen (paint the pearl aztec) and the orignal Magicam model makers who built her for TMP have a crowd funding campaign to "borrow" the model from its current own and dismatle, upgrade the electronics and rebuild her as she was in TMP.

They were having trouble locating the model but I think they are close to locating it.

Oh sweet. I hope they manage it. Maybe not to the casual audience, but to Trek fans I think that is THE Enterprise.

A gorgeous bit of texturing that is probably the best I've ever seen for BC.  True.

noticed something on the refit miniature from the screenshot.  looks like the bussard back next to the outer plasma vent cove is lit.  have we been missing that detail for years, or is that an old age light leak?  as for the Miranda, has anyone ever established what the two little scooped pieces halfway down the raised deck are supposed to be for?

That's always been lit, it's intentional.

Baz, double check the slope of the techy bit/circuitry strips above the shuttlebays. They are not supposed to be level.
