Refit Kelvin
« on: March 14, 2009, 08:47:46 AM »
I was looking as my mk3 JJPrise and thought Wiley has shown us what teh Enterprise would have looked like if it was around in the Kelvins day. So What would the Kelvin look like if they were still in service in the time of Kirk.

here is my Kelvin Refit

Nice Ship Baz, I can't wait to see the finished product as the ships from the new movie are pretty intense.

You are going to enlarge the aft of the engineering hull like you did with your JJprise right?

Looks good otherwise, just about like I imagined.
All hail the messiah!

I would imagine that the whole model will be replaced once the JJprise is done.

Looks really good, but call it something, other than Kelvin , we dont want to overwrite the other one. Great Looking Ship

I like the idea, and you did a good job on it.

But, when I imagine a refit of a ship, I think of using the original framework and only tweaking some parts and giving it enhanced tech. Less of the TOTAL overhaul the Constitution went through (which is only the case because of budget) and more of the minor adjustments the Sovereign went through (different nacelle pylons, updated hull-plating, etc.)

I'd imagine a refit of the Kelvin having generally the same dimensions, a new nacelle (but have it be about the same length and width), a slightly bulkier engineering (still same length, and have the shuttlebay unchanged), and probably a new bridge. I'll do a sketch to show what I mean.

Anyway, nevermind me, I like your ship and look forward to commanding her in battle.

Nice! So I'm gonna take a stab at this...So this vessel apparently was in production around the same time as the JJprise and was to be christened under another name. So in honor of the Kelvin the ship was renamed to the USS Kelvin NCC-0514A :D Just something to kick around.

Pretty close, But I'd say this ship was built to be called Kelvin-A.

From what little I know about the film the Kelvin was destroyed 10-years before the Enterprise was launched.

Pretty close normally the ship carries the same name the registry changes to indicate the change from NCC-0514 to NCC-0514A but shes still called Kelvin or he a girl named Kelvin

What I ment by Kelvin-A was the same as we refer to the Enterprise-A. It will only be USS Kelvin NCC-0514-A
