problems with bc supermod
« on: February 27, 2009, 04:40:47 PM »
i was just wondering if i could get a list of files that the supermod batch files delete?
i have my bc install somewhere else than on my hard drive and it wont automatically delete the files for me,
so i figured id just ask someone for a list and delete them myself.
any one who knows can just email me @ cyanide1700@hotmail.com.
thank you!!

Supermod doesn't delete. It overwrites everything and adds a whole lot more.
"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

no, actually it does, you do need to run the batch file, or manually remove the files before you install the supermod.
the batch was my idea, I'm sure I've got the list somewhere, I'll get back to ya when I find it.

Edit: found it, I hope CR doesn't mind me posting it.  This was with the original instructions for installing the Beta of 3.0, before we made the batch file.  it still applies for the final release of 3.0 or 3.1.  it wasn't included with the final release because we thought it wasn't needed.

ok, so i deleted the specified folders and installed the mod and the update,
bc opens up fine and goes to the main menu like normal, but now whenever i go to go into QB or SP, it goes through a long load and then crashes to the desktop.

ive only gotten this mod to work right once, but i didnt delete the files that time and the registries showed up all funky.
i really want to get this working right.

well I reinstalled the supermod to attempt to replicate your issue, and I think I figured out why you're having that problem.  it sounds stupidly simple, but you need to run BC with the 1.1 patch at least once before you do anything else to the install, once you do that, you can delete the necessary files, and install the supermod.

In what way doesn't SP work? If QB works, then it mostlikely is a script issue preventing SP from working.
I still can't read peoples minds, nor can I read peoples computers, even worse, I can't combine the two to read what is going wrong with your BC install...

goes through the same ridiculously long load as i mentioned before, then goes to a black screen.
i have to use the task manager to exit bc, and i get a dialogue stating low V.Memory.
the bubble saying the systems low on memory is nothing out of the ordinary tho.
but ya, QB runs with no problems whatsoever, but SP simply crashes the game.

This is all very odd, SP doesn't take that much more memory than QB. :S

The graphics memory for the beginning of Supermod's SP is quite high though, and if his computer doesn't meet the requirements (I'm guessing it doesn't) then it may simply not be able to load everything.
