BCU Was Saved!
« on: December 22, 2008, 11:53:02 AM »
BCU, or at least an incredibly small portion of it, was saved. Sadly, you can only look at the forum and long to view the content because waybackmachine only archived a small portion of BCU. :(

Edit: For more reminiscing:

Too bad they don't have BCN. All the links to that was a 404.
Those where the days. :P

So, what really happened to BCU? The site talks about a hacker, but if they really lost all the databases, it must have been something worse.

BCU did have a number of errors, and for a short while, there was a message saying the forums were closed, but had a link directing traffic to here... soon after, a hacker (which we all kinda have a good idea who it/they were) altered that link to go to an adult site instead...  i brought this to Raven's attention and things have been as they are now since...

It's a real shame, though. Lots of history there... I found it to be really interesting.

indeed - BCU contained alot of information; just about anything ever asked about BC from day one was at BCU and alot of that info is priceless and can never be retrieved :(
not to mention all the history, and good times also...

well, if nothing else, BCC has already become quite expansive.  Though when you think about it, a lot of the knowledge of the earlier modders who really deconstructed the game is lost.  At least MLeo is still around! :)

Forum drama, I love it

A pity. BCU was one of the first forums I registered in, along with BCFiles, after Dreamyards and Unimatrix Zero closed.
