wassup with filefront??
« on: October 26, 2008, 04:57:22 PM »
Does anyone else have massive Speed problems with filefront?
It took me 15 minutes to download cord's video.
the same happened to other downloads.

my general internet speed is perfect as always.
tested it several times (each at least 12.000 kb/s)

Shouldn't all their bandwidth problems be solved with removing KM from their servers? :P

i dunno what to tell you guys lol   i just downloaded a 66mb file, and it only took me about 15 or 18 seconds, averaging about 700 kb/s at first, and ending around 1mb/s...

i dont think it is a FF issue - altho, maybe im just lucky and everyone else has been having problems...   has anyone looked thru FF forums to see if others reported this?

Filefront does have litterally thousands if not millions of files, some of which are several gigabytes (far bigger than KM1.0 was ;)), it could be something simple as a busy period but unfortunately that is only guesswork on my part or there is a routing issue. Just checking what country are you from (I know there was a routing problem in the Netherlands, i know this because i had a few problems accessing a couple of sites over the last few days)

(Just to note this is not an official post from filefront, this is from my own point of view)

I'm not sure if its releted but (from another forum) (since i would assume that downloading from the US to Germany would go through the Netherlands)-

"Due to a power failure at the NIKHEF datacenter (the largest exchange
point in the Netherlands) our network was unreachable between 23:00
and 23:20 local time. The power failure affected most major routes in
The Netherlands. The service is currently online again. We are
continuing to monitor the situation."

I just downloaded something from bcf with ~12kb transfer rate :? that reminds me somehow
at the old 56k modem times...

Whatever is reasonable for this, i hope it is over very soon
