BC is known to work on Vista.

Though I wouldn't suggest installing it to Program Files.
I still can't read peoples minds, nor can I read peoples computers, even worse, I can't combine the two to read what is going wrong with your BC install...

yeah my friend Centurus told me the same thing and he said that there may be some incompatability issues with some mods and Vista security alerts so i have opted for XP Pro

Mods won't have any problems with Vista.

I'm actually having quite a bit of difficulty with Vista (64x) and BC mods. I have tried several mods, from manual installs, to BCMP and BCMI installs. I recently installed the BC Supermod 3 from  filefront and it installed fine. The problem is when I start the game It only shows the original ship models and none of the new ones. Nothing changes. I've tried the game in the x86 directory and the regular program files directory, with and without the patch. Nothing seems to work. Any help?

Next time start a new thread, instead of mega bumping an old one.

Anyways, run the game as an admin and make sure you activate all of the mutators.

Are you in a quickbattle? You can't change the mutators in quickbattle, or any other mission.

huh I run Vista Ultimate 64 bit and BC runs fine with KM 1.0 installed
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

I'd suggest using bcsmc instead of bcmp and bcmi anyway ;)

If the Mutators is greyed out, then it means you are running a "session". Be it Single Player, Quick Battle, MultiPlayer or a Custom Mission.

Same here, heck I have 3 different Installs. all 3 almost compellingly different from the other and they work fine.
