Meh it's been done to each and every popular ship...There even was a mod for how a certain galaxy class looked in one particular episode (and I'm not talking about battle damage, here). So, in other words, this kind of mod is certainly not 'new' but still it is a viable as any other mod.

Also, different people have different ideas of what looks good. I can see why someone wouldn't like fake bump mapping, it can look a little cheap sometimes, but I think this is done well.

BUMP

I was messing around with this again after the little argument concerning DJ's Galaxy on the potd afew days ago. Anyways im going to scrap 2 versions of the fake bump mapping & just go with the little less bumpy one

Ive also completely redone the nacelles grilles, impulse engines, bussards & the main deflector.

This does look better than the one at the beginning of the thread. And I'm convinced that you've changed the colour of the deflector dish slightly. Looks paler. Or is it me?

It looks great! Even though indeed as DJ said the bump-mapping may play up under certain angles.

It all depends if you get it right when creating the bump maps. Some results look crap, others look fine at any angle.

I finally got around to converting the Venture just for Jimmy

so here's the results.
