I try to mod using BCMP and...
« on: October 05, 2007, 10:12:14 AM »
I try to mod using BCMP and when I try to run the game after that, all I get is a black screen with a gold cursor.

I know I'm not one of the smart people here but maybe someone could help.

if you press ~ (the key below "Esc") that should open the console.
if it doesn't, close BC, go to the shortcut and add "-TestMode" at the end of the path. like this:

"C:\...\...\Bridge Commander\stbc.exe" -TestMode

then, when you get that cursor, open the console, press enter and type:

App.g_kSystemWrapper.TakeScreenshot()

keep the capitals as they are. that should add a screenshot to the screenshots folder, post it here.
and never ever ever ever EVER use BCMP's file checker. you won't break anything, but it will screw BC up.

I added the shortcut because the console didn't open at first.  The shortcut was added correctly and I opened it and pressed ~ but still no console.

Any ideas?

By the way, I did use file checker once before.  Should I reinstall and stay away?

I opened it and pressed ~ but still no console.
then you didn't add it correctly. the console should appear when you press it, despite the kind of error.

what mod did you add lately?

You did use the modified shortcut to start the game, right?

Also, it's the unshifted version of ~ so `.
I still can't read peoples minds, nor can I read peoples computers, even worse, I can't combine the two to read what is going wrong with your BC install...
