calling all 2d artists
« on: August 12, 2007, 07:07:58 PM »
hey guys. not sure if you remember The Enterprise Project i started a while back, ill refresh your minds incase you cant

The Motion Picture Enterprise Bridge

The Wrath of Kahn - USS Enterprise

The Wrath of Kahn - USS Reliant

And the stargazer bridge

Well im kinda wanting to start this project back up, tho im useless with the TMP era displays. So if anyone fancies their hand at it, it would be a great step forward for this project. i can texture the core of these bridges but im unable to create decent console displays that look like they do in the movies.

also i no that in TWOK there were some inconsistancies relating to the reliant bridge, mainly featuring the constitution class being on some displays, id like to ignore that and recreate it as it should have been

anyone interested in this post here and we'll take it from there.

cheers
sean

If I only know how to texture models in any modeling program You could count me in, I think I could handle this

did you lurk in Okudagrams.com?
they have some MSDs and tutorials. (I needed help for my Akira bridge and went there lol)

LCARSCom.net is also good.

Ok for preview I've made some displays all based upon screencaps from TMP so these are displays from TMP not TWOK or TSFS. Under every  texture I added reference pick if You lwould like to compare them.

great work guys! these are excellent! please add me to msn @ seanabooth@hotmail.com

Dr_McCoy1701A   :   these are pretty damned good. if you feel like making some more of the other displays then please feel free and you will definately get a huge mention in the credits

intercepter   :   hmmm looks pretty good to me. not much ref for the stargazer pannels so i could deffo use them on there if you would like to continue to make some more for other consoles.

Jose Ralat is very strict and stern about his work being used and his name being on everything that is his (especially if anything of his is in a screenshot)...
we went through all this not too long ago lol

I did that in drawplus 4.0.
Need i say anymore?

- Drawplus exports animations in gif format only, will that work?

I dont know much about programs that people use, or what programs are the best, but ill give it a shot,
...if you can bare me

Excellent,
i guess then ill get started,
is there a certain length the animations have to be? or am i asking too much too soon.

and thanks for the feedback, Dr.Mcoy  :)

sean, its funny that you wrote that the display would be good for the stargazer, because thats the bridge i like most out of all three of them.

I think BC can only support up to 5 textures per animation.
btw intercepter, in future try to make lines on displays thinner.

id sooner not animate them as it can make things more difficult when it comes to BP features and such, also non animated textures are needed as these bridges are high in poly count and i dont want em to lag too much

ok, ive done a few displays here,
since im new im not sure about what size i should do them, i figured if i do them big, resising them down will look better than stretching them to a larger size. I think?, anyway I hope these are up to your standards, remember i did these in drawplus 4.0, so theres no cool effects and picture enhancing tools etc...
be nice

I was thinking about having the below picture on a small screen, or on the armrest of the captains chair.

Im still going to change a few of these, until im happy with them
Feedback welcome

I know what it is like to texture bridges, it takes time. Well for me it does as i hate texturing lol. Bridges look good so far

OK, ive just done these displays, for the engineering, and tactical pannels.
i not sure if the reshaping was neccasary, but i guessed it would look better than compressing a rectangular texture into a different shape,
enjoy, and
constructive critisism welcome.
